Il disait : « Le bon musulman ne se mêle pas de ce qui ne le concerne pas » et aussi « Celui qui croit en Allah et au jour dernier doit dire du bien ou garder le silence ». Il articulait ses paroles pour être compris de ses interlocuteurs et gardait le silence pour de longues durées.
- Il se montrait toujours chagriné, méditait en permanence, ne se reposait point, était gentil, n'était ni rude, ni humiliant. Lorsqu'il recevait un bienfait, il le magnifiait, minime fut-il ou énorme.
- Les choses de la vie ne suscitaient point sa colère. Quand il s'agissait d'une injustice, il s'emportait de sorte qu'on ne le connaissait pas, et il ne se calmait qu'une fois les choses remises en place. Il ne s'emportait pas pour lui-même et ne se vengeait pas.
